Bimbo (Donal O' Kelly) is brokenhearted as being laid off. His best friend Larry (Colm Meaney) hasn't held down a job in ages. During World Cup fever these two fast friends cook up a get-quick-rich scheme that may be a dream come true or a living nightmare.

The Van is the third in a series in Irish author Roddy Doyle's 'Barrytown Trilogy'. It depicts the hilarious adventures of Bimbo. Upon being fired from his job at the bakery, Bimbo and his best mate go into business for themselves and purchase a chipper (a fish and chips van); but will the pressures of financial success sour their friendship forever?
