Out of the urban wasteland of vandalised cars, muddy dreams and sliding tackles comes Rovers' would-be saviour, Walter Keegan (BRENDAN GLEESON). Keegan is a man with a vague past but a resolute future: someone who is determined to help Rovers win the Cup by whatever means possible. But the new manager has a mountain to climb and eleven players to convince that they - and he - can do it.

With brains, brawn and unorthodox methods the mysterious man in the big coat pulls the team up by their bootstraps galvanising these eleven men: helping to restore their dignity and chase championship glory.
