LIAM 05 - Hurling Championship 2005
A double DVD covering the 2005 Guinness All Ireland Hurling Championship with extended highlights of all the matches from provincial finals onwards, featuring Cork, Galway, Kilkenny, Clare, Waterford, Wexford, Limerick, Tipperary etc. It is narrated by Des Cahill and comes with a souvenir booklet looking back at the season and listing all the matches and results. The 2005 Guinness All Ireland Hurling Championship again underlined the fact that hurling is one of the fastest and skilful field games in the world. The individual skills, passion, bravery and commitment that characterises the game of hurling were displayed in abundance. The background centred on two teams, Cork and Kilkenny. In the 2003 final Kilkenny had defeated Cork and in 2004 the tables were turned when Cork beat Kilkenny. So could the Cork ‘Rebels’ make it 2-in-a-row in 2005 or would the Kilkenny ‘Cats’ avenge the 2004 outcome? And how would Limerick, Waterford, Tipperary, Wexford, Clare and Galway perform - all of them more than capable of causing an upset in any year? As it transpired Galway emerged from the pack and knocked out Kilkenny in an epic semi-final and Cork survived the other enthralling semi-final against Clare (winning by just 1 point). In the final Cork beat a determined Galway by 5 points to achieve their 2-in-a-row and the Liam McCarthy returned to Cork.
