It Could Be You : Horse Racing Syndicates
This fantastic DVD looks at racehorse ownership by means of a syndicate, covering the highs and lows and the social aspect of the sport. Also, it’s informative, giving practical advice on how to set up a syndicate and find a racehorse. The story is entertaining, it’s true (caught in real time). It is suitable viewing for all (not only for the serious punter).
To do this the programme goes on a journey following the fortunes of two syndicates and their two racehorses through the 2009 jumps season. It includes interviews with Horse Racing Ireland, racehorse trainers Tom Cooper (who trains the Irish Independent Arkle Trophy winner Forpadydeplasterer Cheltenham 2009) and Philip Rothwell, bloodstock agent Sean Tiernan who shows so much chemistry for horses (he purchased many top horses including Solwhit), syndicate members including the colourful Charlie Chawke, a syndicate agent (who gives us costs) and the former Minister for Sport John O’ Donoghue TD.
The syndicates featured are the Goat Racing Syndicate who owns the now famous Forpadydeplasterer and the River Syndicate who own/lease Presenting Lucy (apt in today’s climate). The DVD contains footage from their major races.
