Football Final 1970 - Kerry v Meath

Football Final 1970 - Kerry v Meath

1970 – Kerry (2-19) v Meath (0-18) : Kerry are defending the double won in 1969. The National League has already been retained earlier in the year and the march to this final has been emphatic with an average winning margin of over 13 points. Meath have been more tested, particularly in one of the most famous Leinster finals where they beat Offaly 2-22 to 5-12. Champions themselves three years ago, they have never lost to Kerry in an All-Ireland final, having surprised the hot favourites in 1939 and ’54. Once again Kerry are expected to win, in what is the first 80-minute football final.
