Football Final 1968 - Down v Kerry

1968 – Down (2-12) v Kerry (1-13) : Down’s proud boast of never having lost a championship match to Kerry is tested again as the counties meet for the third time in the decade. Four members of each side played in the 1960 final, including Mick O’Connell and Mick O’Dwyer for Kerry and Down’s own attacking legends Seán O’Neill and Paddy Doherty. Both had narrow wins in the semi-final: the Ulster champions against Galway and Kerry, who met first-time Leinster winners Longford. Down supporters outnumber their opponents’ by about two to one and hope to maintain a 100 per cent record in All-Ireland finals.
