Dublin v Tyrone - All Ireland Q-Final 2011

Dublin v Tyrone - All Ireland Q-Final 2011

Dublin 0-22 : Tyrone 0-15
All Ireland Quarter Final
Croke Park, 6 August 2011

Two teams that have known great rivalry and respect over recent years but the records show Tyrone have had the upper hand on most of the big stage clashes.
Mickey Harte has been hugely successful in guiding Tyrone to so much success but so far, 2011, has been mixed as they failed to deal with the Donegal style in Ulster but subsequently recovered in the qualifiers with decisive wins against Longford, Armagh and Roscommon. These 3 wins has given them some valued momentum coming into this quarter final.
Dublin had a tough campaign in Leinster but with a combination of luck and determination they saw off Kildare and Wexford in the semi-final and final respectively. It was clear that Pat Gilroy had his squad primed to believe they could deal with any challenge facing them and played with a great deal of conviction. With a poor recent history against Tyrone that belief was surely going to be tested in this eagerly awaited quarter final clash. But the Dubs took control from the start and, for once, Tyrone were thoroughly outplayed. One Diarmuid Connolly could do no wrong and his scoring feat made the headlines but the overall team performance meant Dublin’s fans departed Croke Park dreaming of glory in 2011
