The conclusion to a most
enjoyable summer sees champions Kilkenny, having
survived a classic Leinster final and replay against
Wexford, facing a rebuilt Galway side, who have
shocked Munster champions Tipperary in the All-Ireland
semi-final. The Westerners have created a powerful
attacking axis around newcomer Joe Rabbitte and Joe
Cooney. Kilkenny however also have a high-performing
forward combination, inspired by the genius of DJ
Carey in his prime and his interaction with the
champions' own star rookie, PJ Delaney.
